In my Own Words:
Some say that doing charity, non profit or fundraising work is to better their chances to get into heaven or it’s good karma, but for me it’s about giving what I can, when I can and doing it with love.
Contributions can be monetary, material or vocal. I have made contributions in all forms and I believe in my heart that helping others is something that can make a difference directly or indirectly.
When contributions are made for the idea of personal or financial gain, they are not made with the same intention as those who genuinely contribute with their heart and ultimately out of love for what they believe in.
For myself when I make a contribution, I get this overwhelming feeling of love and satisfaction that my one small deed will do some good for those who are less fortunate than me. Each year, we adopt a family for the holidays. Well this past year, it was my family that needed a little extra help to get through the holidays. I was overwhelmed with emotion when my friends decided they wanted to make the holidays extra special for my daughters.
I know first hand how an act of kindness and love can change someone. I will forever be greatful for the love that was given to our family. In the tough economic times that some face today, many know what it’s like to struggle to make the mortgage/rent, to put food on the table, and to pay the bills. I urge you to keep this in mind when you are trying to make a concious choice on an organization to give to. You never know how you’ll change someone with your act of kindness.
I am very honored to be a part of the Universal One as the Non Profit Coordinator. I believe in giving from the heart and giving with love. This is what the Universal One is all about – showing that we can make a difference, we can create change, we can all work together to bring awareness and sh are the knowledge that we have in our minds and in our hearts.
