Today I went and visited Maple Farm Sanctuary and fell in love with the animals there! I figured the best way to tell you about this Nonprofit is through a photo slideshow with captions since the animals say it all! Here we go! Or learn more here: Maple Farm Sanctuary Website

-
Maple Farm Sanctuary is an animal sanctuary providing lifelong homes for abused, abandoned and unwanted farmed animals while promoting a humane diet and respect for all life through public information.

-
Bentley, once the youngest goat seeing Petey (put-put) for the first time. “Ut oh, my reign is over. A spot light stealer has arrived!”
-
-
This is a big steer. I forget his name but he has a problem with his eye sight. He can only see shadows.
-
-
This is Tara. She was a little shy and kept her distance but loved having her picture taken. Secretly she loved the attention.
-
-
This is Brianna. She came from the Peace Abbey after it closed down. Glad to see she has found a good home!
-
-
Brianna wouldn’t stop Baaaaaa’ing at us. She has a lot to say. Perhaps she should consider writing a book!?
-
-
This is Casey. We had to keep a distance. About Casey from the website: Cassie the Cow A gentle giant. Cassie has been diagnosed with agoraphobia. Agoraphobia arises from an internal anxiety condition that has become so intense that the suffering individual fears going anywhere or doing anything where these feelings of panic have repeatedly occurred before. She was at a slaughterhouse when she jumped a 6 foot fence to escape the torture and inhumane conditions. There is no question as to why she suffers from agoraphobia.

-
This is Rod Stewart! He’s a rock Star. And clearly one of Cheri’s favorites. He has to be kept by himself because the other roosters feel threatened by his rock star status!
-
-
This is a duck who just likes hanging out doing his thing.
-
-
This is a deep thinking chicken…
-
-
He likes to stand in the field and contemplate life.
-
-
Sid or Chloe? Not sure but eating greens for lunch!
-
-
This is Clyde. Clyde is cool.
-
-
Clyde is the man, no doubt about it! A wise man for sure.

This cow has a sad story. Mom gave birth to him but didn’t make it because of the stresses milk cows go through. Milking cows are kept in a constant state of being pregnant in order to produce milk. No one thinks about what happens to there babies. They are taken away right after birth which is cruel to the moms and babies. And the males go off to become veal calves or beef cows. So sad.
-
-
This lucky fellow, who I believe is named Johnny, gets a better life than his counter parts. He gets to grow up and be a cow, not food.
-
-
Disqualified show ducks. Not good enough for the snobby crowd. But good enough for those who see the value in unique qualities like imperfection. I love the difference.
-
-
This boy was supposed to be veal. Now he’s a living cow. Not quite big enough to be considered a steer. Happy boy eating grass :)
-
-
What a life! I’m sort of jealous ;)
-
-
This is Bentley meeting Petey (put-put) for the first time. Let the competition for human affection begin! Love them both EQUALLY!
-
-
You go with your bad self! Flap if you are happy! Yup, this duck is happy for sure!
-
-
These geese have a great story! They were being brought in two small carrying cases somewhere to be sold for food. Well, the truck they were in hit the car of this woman who came up with a great idea. She told the driver if he gives her the geese she won’t report it to the insurance company. He agreed and the geese were brought to the sanctuary. Yay! New home. Same geesey attitude. They hiss at you if you get too close, but they’re still cute to look at!
-
-
Goat love!
-
-
What a cutie!
-
-
Happy life.
-
-
Yup, I liked him.
-
-
They grow their own hay. And its clear the chickens rule here. Hay Chickens! You’re Fabulous!
-
-
Okay, okay, you can get your picture taken too!
-
-
Johnny was very curious about my camera.
-
-
These llamas like their life here.
-
-
This is lucky. Lucky was rescued from a local miniature horse breeder who had left him to die in a pen with many other neglected miniatures. He was also born with a hoof deformity.
-
-
His hair is so long. I wonder if he has eyes?
-
-
He does have eyes!
-
-
See? Told you Tara loves her picture taken. She’s a fan of the sanctuary paparazzi who come around!
-
-
Petey (put-put) IS a show stealer. Look at him! So cute!
-
-
I forget his name. I know he is old and and wise. And very serious. Also, loves scratches!
-
-
Sid or Chloe? I still don’t know!
-
-
Hubba. Hubba. What a stud. Seriously, he was putting the moves on all the girls. And I don’t mean turkeys. He just loves girls period. I was flattering him ;)
-
-
Tara AGAIN! She is all about herself. lol
-
-
But she doesn’t know I took this one! HA HA Candid Tara NOT POSING! She was a cute lady.
